really, it's almost time

Here I am, day 11 of maternity leave, 5 days past my due date, counting down the hours until baby Jonah will be here. Really only 4 hours until we head to the hospital! I can hardly believe it.

After my last Dr. appt. this morning and we learned nothing has changed, I'm not progressing on my own so far after lots of walking and even some castor oil (don't be grossed out I put it in a milkshake with reeses cups, rootbeer and ice cream mmm) and other things recommended by my Dr. and other helpful people, I've gotten nowhere. Really. They did a whole slue of tests today to check on baby Jonah, to make sure everything is still working like it's supposed to, and it is. I really think he's just too comfy in there. Maybe he knows once he gets here, he's not going to get orange juice and banana bread for breakfast everyday.

I'm so excited and nervous and anxious and I feel like I should take a nap, but I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen. I also feel like this is a bunch of rambling nonsense, but can you blame me?!

Look for an update and some pictures here sometime this weekend!

thank you

yes, you. i am so very thankful for all of our family and friends during the last 9 months and especially so the last few weeks. the shared excitement and anticipation of meeting jonah has meant so much to us. we are so blessed to be surrounded by people who have invested in our lives so much and have been praying for us and a baby they don't even know. to you, we are forever grateful.

in other news,

my due date has come and gone, and honestly i thought i would be beyond irritated with phone calls and texts about if jonah had made an appearance yet, but today after answering all of these, i realized i'm not really irritated at all, but humbled by all of the people who care enough to call and check or just see how i'm doing.

i'm not even sick of being pregnant (i really thought after 40 weeks i would be). for some reason the last week i've been able to sleep better than i have in months, i've been able to finish getting everything ready for jonah's arrival and spend some good ole quality time with jacob. and lucky for you...i blog more too. :)the only thing i'm really sick of is anticipation. i hate waiting. for anything.

tomorrow morning i have another dr. appt. she's going to do a non-stress test to make sure jonah's holding up okay and if there is still no sign of labor in the near future we'll schedule an induction for later this week or early next week. i hope for the early next week choice, so that he has every single chance to show up on his own. ok, well i promise to keep you posted on whatever is decided and to show you pictures as soon as we can get them uploaded here!

wanna play a game?

today is my due date! which apparently can mean little to nothing, but it's only 11:37 in the morning, so maybe not. my dr. doesn't seem too convinced i'm going to have this baby anytime soon, but i like to think otherwise, we are soooo ready to meet this little guy!

since i already finished my list(s) from last week, i've been bored outta my mind. my house is probably as clean as it's been, oh, i don't know...ever.

so, here's my plan for entertainment...a baby pool!

leave a comment here or on fb about when baby jonah will make his appearance...please, pretty please. otherwise, i'm left to contemplating things like drinking castor oil or other ridiculous things to get this baby moving along. oh and the winner will get a prize, fine, there is no prize, except bragging rights and i'll write it down in jonah's baby book and maybe some banana bread if you live close and i don't eat it all before he gets here...ohh, good one.

ready, set...go!

lists

i think i've always been a list maker. at least since i've been married anyway. grocery lists. to do lists. honey do lists. our netflix queue. what to pack lists (i love those). anyway since i've been pregnant i think there has been a new list on the fridge nearly every week. as i glance over them i see how ridiculous i've become. i like to put things on my lists like check the mail. small group. shower. nap. watch bachlorette. those things only show up on the list so i feel productive at the end of the week, when i haven't accomplished such things as dishes or laundry or swiffering the floor. and sometimes i add things to the list after i've done them, just so i can mark something else off...cheating? no, absolutely not.

now that i have officially started maternity leave my list keeps growing, but that's ok, because i feel like i should have pleeeeenty of time. no? only one week left of pregnancy? oh, ok.  so things i was going to put off until later this week, i'm doing today, like blog. and give the dogs baths and haircuts. and look up a bajillion tutorials on things to sew this week. oh and i vacuumed. and watch my netflix movie.

and make a fancy dinner to commemorate our last baby free weekend. well it should be. fancy dinner has apparently turned into jacob grilling. that's what he gets when he says this baby isn't going to come out on time. ha. he's going to grill me shrimp and maybe some steak and some veggies and some pineapple. but he doesn't necessarily know that yet.

hey maybe next time i update it will be with news of a baby! or not. oh and for all of you faithful followers of our blog you will want to check here for the newest news and pictures of baby jonah and his arrival!

almoooost

my special helper for today
I cannot believe how fast time has flown by the last few months, I mean really can there only be 12 days til my due date, really? At the most I have 22 days left, which seems feasible at this point too.

Two weekends ago we did maternity pictures in the sweltering heat, which makes me think, maybe, just maybe I shouldn't have waited til I was 8 1/2 months pregnant to schedule pictures, but Melodie did a wonderful job, and Jacob wasn't too grumpy for it being 104 outside and we got snowcones, so really not a bad afternoon! To see our pictures go here...and do it now!

This weekend we go to celebrate with lots of family and friends at a baby shower thrown for us by some rather fantastic gals. I don't have any pictures from the shower...YET, but I will soon and I will share them with you as soon as I do! But in the meantime here are some pictures of what the nursery looks like, there are many more things to be put away, but they are being laundered at the moment. I really had a wonderful time with everyone who got to come, we are really so blessed to have such great friends and family and I can't wait to share Jonah with ALL of them!

baby face

Today I was thinking about all of the modern technologies we have and how convenient and fun most of them are, like ultrasounds.

At the beginning of my pregnancy we had a few ultrasounds to see how he was growing and check regular stuff, but we haven't had any since the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. We also had an elective ultrasound around 18 weeks when my family came up here and got to go with us when we found out he has boy parts. :)

I ramble because today I realized that after the 6 or so ultrasounds we had, we haven't got to see the little man's face! I think we have one profile picture that turned out really blurry since he was being a wiggle worm. But really, we have no idea what he looks like, not even a guess. I think most people (or at least ones I have talked to lately) get a sweet little 3d shot of their wee one's face to guess at who's nose he has or maybe even a sweet little smile, but I guess we did get a shot of his tiny tush. :) Not until I came upon this realization did I start to get incredibly anxious to meet him!  I mean, that, and the fact that seems like time is slipping through my fingers (24 more days if you're curious).

We are slowly getting things together and ready for him to make his appearance, very slowly. We finally picked out a carseat and are going to get it on Thursday after my 36 week appt. I have most of my hospital bag packed except things like our toothbrushes and phone charger. I talked to my mom today and they are going to bring the bassinet that they used for me and all my siblings up here when baby comes...and my dad is fixing it up for us and painting it and everything...I'm so excited!

Oh and I cannot forget to mention that we are going to do maternity pictures this weekend with Melodie (if you haven't checked her out yet...do it now!) I just have to decide what to wear, which may be a challenge since I'm outgrowing most of my clothes.

I feel like I ramble, but you like it...right?

Oh and if you have any awesome suggestions for a playlist at the hospital...tell me them now. please. thank you.

I'm really not this bossy normally...promise.

time flies...literally

So, this is almost too funny not to share.

I called my Dr's office this morning to see what time I made my appt. for next week and while the receptionist was looking it up this happens:
Receptionist: "Wow, I can't believe you're so close to the end, it's pretty exciting huh?"
Me: "Yep only a little over 5 weeks away."
SILENCE
Receptionist: "I think you mean 4 weeks, you know a month from tomorrow"
Me: "Silly question: When is my due date then?"
Receptionist: "August 6"
Me: "Are you sure about that?"

I thought (incorrectly for 8 months now) that my due date was the 12th and after that conversation and two similar ones with both of the nurses, I was wrong. I just lost 6 days of being pregnant. Yipes. Everyone seems to be pretty excited, and I'm sooooo excited to meet this little guy too! But, to be honest I feel a little unprepared, I'm not sure why 6 days makes such a difference in my head, oh, maybe because it's almost a whole week...eeeek.

I can't help but laugh about this, and I'm sure it will be funny for a while.

Other than time literally flying by we celebrated Independence Day this weekend with some friends and food and fireworks, and it was fantastic. I took pictures and everything, but then I left my camera at the party, so I don't have them with me now, but I know if I wait for the pictures to publish this, it is very likely it won't get done. So, look forward to those later.
