{week 2}

This was a big week around our house...here are the highlights (and pictures of most!)

we went to church for the first time as a family on sunday.

jonah and mommy had our first outing alone...to the dr.'s office, we survived and we were on time!

and jonah is up past his birth weight...he's 7lbs 14oz.

we helped uncle maverick celebrate his 14th birthday.

we tried out the moby wrap...and love it! thanks again aunt michelle & uncle manuel & cousin tres!

the puppies are getting to know sweet jonah

jonah has a belly button!

jonah gets approximately 4 baths a day due to all the spitting up...plus that shark towel is too cute.

jonah is much more awake and aware during the day...

which means sometimes we get longer stretches of sleep at night...yay!

we have our first family trip to cleveland scheduled for september 15...woot!

in other news:
mommy is wearing pants with zippers and can now type rather efficiently one handed.
daddy is back at occ taking a couple classes working towards his specialization in student ministry, we are so proud!

week 1

our welcome home sign from my family. :)
jonah @ 1 week
and again

aren't they so cute when they match?!

Today Jonah is one week old, I can't believe how fast it's gone by and how much he has changed in just one week. It's crazy. This has been one of the best weeks ever. There is nothing I love more than quality time, and this week has been chalk full of it and nothing but that. Jacob has been amazing and it's so much fun watching him be a daddy. I knew he was going to be great, but I had no idea he would be this comfortable this quick.

Tomorrow is his first day back to work in a week and I'm a little nervous. I'm sure we'll be fine on our own, we'll just miss daddy a lot...really a lot.
grammy and pops showin jonah some love...he misses them so much!
i could spend all day just staring at him.

right after his first bath, he didn't mind it so much...after it was over.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the last week. enjoy!

Jonah's Journey

Here is a rundown of Jonah's very eventful arrival. We got to the hospital Thursday night to kickstart labor with some magical medicine. After a night of little rest and an early morning start of labor (4am), we were on our way to meeting baby Jonah! Of course he couldn't arrive uneventfully. During the night and early morning as my contractions would increase his heart rate would decrease. After my doctor was informed about what was going on, she made the decision that a c section was going to be our best option and it needed to be sooner rather than later. From the time they decided we were going to do a c section and baby Jonah arrived was less than an hour. Looking back, I think it may have been more of an emergency than they led us to believe, and honestly, I'm okay with that.

My parents had decided to head to Joplin after my dad got off work on Friday and just hang out until they could see the new babe. The timing of the day could not have turned out better. My dad got off work in Tulsa at noon and my mom and siblings picked him up from work and headed this way, they ended up at the hospital only minutes after I was moved to my recovery room. I'm so glad they could be there so soon and were able to stay for the weekend. I really don't know if they know how much it meant to us to have them come for so long and spend so much sweet time with precious Jonah.

While we were in the hospital we had a slue of people come visit us and meet baby Jonah. I would try to name everyone, but I think I would forget someone or this might go on for another 83 paragraphs, but to each and every one of you that came, thank you. You have no idea how much the love that was shown and the smiles shared made my recovery not so terrible, except that the worst part of my recovery so far has been laughing. There has been no shortage of laughter in the last five days and most of that is Jacob's fault. But apparently I can't be mad about that, because I knew how funny he was when I said "I do". psh. I think that might wrap up the hospital stay, and if not, I will write again soon. You can see pictures of baby Jonah's first days here and new pictures from August here.

really, it's almost time

Here I am, day 11 of maternity leave, 5 days past my due date, counting down the hours until baby Jonah will be here. Really only 4 hours until we head to the hospital! I can hardly believe it.

After my last Dr. appt. this morning and we learned nothing has changed, I'm not progressing on my own so far after lots of walking and even some castor oil (don't be grossed out I put it in a milkshake with reeses cups, rootbeer and ice cream mmm) and other things recommended by my Dr. and other helpful people, I've gotten nowhere. Really. They did a whole slue of tests today to check on baby Jonah, to make sure everything is still working like it's supposed to, and it is. I really think he's just too comfy in there. Maybe he knows once he gets here, he's not going to get orange juice and banana bread for breakfast everyday.

I'm so excited and nervous and anxious and I feel like I should take a nap, but I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen. I also feel like this is a bunch of rambling nonsense, but can you blame me?!

Look for an update and some pictures here sometime this weekend!

thank you

yes, you. i am so very thankful for all of our family and friends during the last 9 months and especially so the last few weeks. the shared excitement and anticipation of meeting jonah has meant so much to us. we are so blessed to be surrounded by people who have invested in our lives so much and have been praying for us and a baby they don't even know. to you, we are forever grateful.

in other news,

my due date has come and gone, and honestly i thought i would be beyond irritated with phone calls and texts about if jonah had made an appearance yet, but today after answering all of these, i realized i'm not really irritated at all, but humbled by all of the people who care enough to call and check or just see how i'm doing.

i'm not even sick of being pregnant (i really thought after 40 weeks i would be). for some reason the last week i've been able to sleep better than i have in months, i've been able to finish getting everything ready for jonah's arrival and spend some good ole quality time with jacob. and lucky for you...i blog more too. :)the only thing i'm really sick of is anticipation. i hate waiting. for anything.

tomorrow morning i have another dr. appt. she's going to do a non-stress test to make sure jonah's holding up okay and if there is still no sign of labor in the near future we'll schedule an induction for later this week or early next week. i hope for the early next week choice, so that he has every single chance to show up on his own. ok, well i promise to keep you posted on whatever is decided and to show you pictures as soon as we can get them uploaded here!

wanna play a game?

today is my due date! which apparently can mean little to nothing, but it's only 11:37 in the morning, so maybe not. my dr. doesn't seem too convinced i'm going to have this baby anytime soon, but i like to think otherwise, we are soooo ready to meet this little guy!

since i already finished my list(s) from last week, i've been bored outta my mind. my house is probably as clean as it's been, oh, i don't know...ever.

so, here's my plan for entertainment...a baby pool!

leave a comment here or on fb about when baby jonah will make his appearance...please, pretty please. otherwise, i'm left to contemplating things like drinking castor oil or other ridiculous things to get this baby moving along. oh and the winner will get a prize, fine, there is no prize, except bragging rights and i'll write it down in jonah's baby book and maybe some banana bread if you live close and i don't eat it all before he gets here...ohh, good one.

ready, set...go!
